Stupid people.

Why is it as we grow up from toddler through adolescent, from whatever age it might be when we start ASSUMING things, everyone older than ourselves must be either smarter, more intelligent, have more common sense, or just plain more experience in things to lead US to defer to THEM?

At the ripe old age of 30-something, I’ve come to find out adults just ain’t smart because they happen to be adults. Maybe "adult" isn’t quite the right word to use in this situation. (wordnet.princeton.edu defines ADULT as: a fully developed person from maturity onward) Ahem. Enough said…?

Types of adults I’ve personally encountered and drive me up the wall include:

The ADULTS who don’t really listen to what you say, and then screw everything up later, but have no clue they’ve screwed things up because THEY NEVER REALLY LISTEN.
The ADULTS who play dumb, go about their business, screw everything up, but don’t have to take responsibility because they PLAYED DUMB.
The ADULTS who think using excuses you used in middle school are still good when they need a reason to be late, tardy, or just plain skip out.
I do understand there are people out in this world who really are not very intelligent. If you’re offended by this post, I apologize. On the other hand, you probably wouldn’t be smart enough to be offended. But if you are, you really have no excuse, now do you…?

I have to admit, conversations with my wife on this matter contributed to the posting of this entry…
