Music
Tuesday, January 1, 2008
Music has always been a big part of my life, in big part because of the core contribution of some very good friends like Dave Gorbe and Ryan Knott, and in recent years Pat Sweet, Leo Swope, Bob Chapman, and a few others who have mingled in and out of various projects.
Some of you might recognize some of these old names like The Reason (circa 1988-1990), Anonymous, The Cagey Bees, and Satin Jones (circa 1998-2004).
I'm happy to say the hobby continues on in the form Girl Stand Still, a writing/recording project with Ryan, in which we put to use our love of writing music with my ever-evolving home studio and continuing education in engineering techniques.
Below I'll be posting .mp3's from various periods, and with Snocap I’ll be able to post some newer stuff you can download. If you know our chronology (maybe even if you don't!), you might hear a definite evolution in sound and substance.
Thanks for listening.
Update: As of February 2008, there have been a few SJ reunion rumblings.
“GSS was born from the minds of Ryan Knott & Corey Bloxom who’ve been playing music together in one form or another for nearly 18 years.
With influences ranging from U2, The Smiths, The Cure, Catherine Wheel and Love & Rockets to Son Volt, Johnny Cash, ELO, Bruce Springsteen & Warren Zevon, the music is melodic, atmospheric, earthy & real.
Since November 2004, Ryan & Corey have written and recorded songs which will continue to be made available until we decide exactly what we’re doing here.”

Hey Corey-
I pop in from time to time to see how Little Max is doing and I saw that there have been some reunions. If you guys get together and play somewhere, I would love to see you all!
